Yes, I Am Persistent When I Find Something That Works

My publishing business is improving, and so is the PDF eBook idea. This week I sold a book publishing job and have created two PDF eBooks for clients. Perhaps the hesitancy is being overcome. I hope so.

It seems to be a lack of understanding. People get accustomed to eBooks being a certain way, and that is the only thing that works for them. Naturally, the gatekeepers like KDP are encouraging them with features that, while impressive, are seldom necessary.

The most impressive of those features are reflowable text and interchangeable fonts. While these seem important, you won’t get them on a paperback or hardcover. The font and font size the publisher uses are the font you read.

It’s true that a PDF eBook's font is not reflowable or changeable, but this doesn't affect readability. It’s also true that PDF eBooks have individual pages and page numbers, not available on standard eBooks with reflowable text. The PDF eBooks I have been creating are easy to read on a smartphone, reader, tablet or laptop.

The first of the two new PDF eBooks will serve as an introduction to the upcoming Kindle, paperback, and hardcover editions. This PDF eBook is free to anyone volunteering to read it and comment on it or review it.
